Safety In Sandwiches!
Well, I need to ease myself back into this, so here's my low commitment, high reader-interaction blog. The topic: SANDWICHES.
One of my favorite quotes is included on my website quotes page. It's from "Disney's THE KID" starring Bruce Willis. In one scene, he thinks he's going crazy, and frantically runs to the kitchen to make a sandwich, repeating the words, "There's safety in sandwiches!" several times during the process. Cracks me up!
I know the feeling. Not sure how, but I know I feel really safe when there's a sandwich in my hands...moving toward my mouth!
Well, here's my new, perhaps temporary, favorite sandwich (except for the omnipotent PB and J--that's understood). I kinda made it up myself, so it might gross everybody else out. Plus, it's an easy guy sandwich. You know, not too complicated, less time to prepare than to eat.
Give it a try sometime...it's....well, I haven't named it yet. We'll call it the "CATS" Sandwich. No, there are no cats involved in the ingredients! CATS stands for:
"Curry Albacore Tuna Salad"
Here's the recipe. I know I'm risking my manliness here--can't believe I've resorted to a recipe on my blog! But since there are only 4 ingredients, ok 5, and there's no cooking or baking involved, I think I'm all right!
--1 foil packet Albacore Tuna (packed in water)
--1 tablespoon (or less) mayo (just to hold it all together)
--lots of black pepper (or less to your taste)
--approx. 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder (the yellow kind)
--if you want, add some salt-free herb/spice mix to vary the taste
That's all. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl with a fork, mash it onto a slice of bread, cover with another slice of bread (we call that a sandwich--toast the bread if you wish) and snarf it down with some cold milk.
I realize I'm running the risk of getting dozens of tuna sandwiches brought to me at shows...please don't...it's perishable...and I'm not allowed to eat food brought to me by fans. Doctor's orders! He's just looking out for my health and safety! (Hope he doesn't see THIS recipe!)
BUT, if you're really brave, and feeling crazy, try it out for yourself and let me know what you think! I'm tough, I can take the criticism!
